My First Blog Post

Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

Welcome to Leah Crochets! I’m really happy you’re here, even if you stumbled here by accident.

Get to Know Me!

My friend/co-worker, Delaney, introduced me to crocheting. She was always working on something on our lunch breaks, whether it be crochet or knitting, and she was always telling me to try it.

Now really, knitting should be in my blood. My grandmother was a knitter, many of my aunts and cousins knit. So I tell Delaney “I should be knitting, I was born for this!” She tells me relax and to try crochet first. She told me what yarn and hooks to pick up to get me started. So, off to Michaels I went.

I picked up some Bernat Super Value, 5mm and 5.5mm hooks, a beginner crochet book and got to work.

Did I do well at first? Absolutely not. I was ready to throw it out the window a few times. I was certain I wouldn’t get it. But I’m also stubborn so I kept at it. And what happened? I fell in love with it. I fell in love with walking through the yarn aisle and feeling the different textures. I fell in love with buying yarn and hooks (even when my bank account didn’t). I worked through my little book of beginner projects and then to Instagram I went!  I eventually made my own crochet Instagram since I figured people following on my regular profile wouldn’t care too much about it, and I really cannot believe the community I’ve found. The inspiration and the support amazes me everyday.

So fast forward to today, I’m slowly building my business up. I’m a recreation aide for seniors by day and a crocheter by night. Crocheting with my beautiful cat is probably my favourite activity. My Etsy shop is a little sad right now but I’m hoping to keep designing and bringing more patterns to life. If you have read this far, thank you! It really does mean a lot to me. Until next time, happy hooking!
